And, it really did prove to be a family affair for some of the success stories - not least for Horncastle mum-and-daughter Helen and Abigail Hunter.

Helen is head of biology at the school and actually taught Abigail who will now head off to Sheffield University to study dentistry.

The Burns sisters, who moved to QEGS from the town’s Banovallum School, will also be going their separate ways.

The results were available from 7.30am and Juliette Breton was one of the first in the queue.

Her results mean she has secured a place at Cambridge University and she headed off to celebrate with mum Kathy and dad Peter.
