Horncastle mayor Fiona Martin reflected on a difficult year as the town council voted Sandra Campbell-Wardman to take over the position.
Coun Martin had been mayor of Horncastle for two years and the last six months of her time in charge was marred by the deaths of councillors Ann Wayne and Steve Newton.
The two councillors passed away within weeks of each other earlier this year.
Coun Martin also took time to remember ex-councillor Jack Simpson who passed away in 2013.
Councillors discussed the possibility of erecting a memorial in memory of the councillors who had recently passed away.
Ideas will be put forward at their next meeting which will be held on June 10 at Horncastle’s Stanhope Hall.
The council currently has three vacancies for anyone who would wish to join the council.
Two new councillors can be co-opted to the council should they wish to put themselves forward. For the third seat an election has to be called - if an election is not called the council can co-opt another new member.
