Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue's pancake safety tips

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue have offered some important safety tips ahead of Shrove Tuesday (February 9), and they are also running a poll to discover the county's favourite pancake topping.

The team will be running the poll on their Facebook page over the next few days, with the favourite being announced on the big day itself.

On their page will also be some top tips on how to make the perfect pancake and how to stay safe whilst doing it.

Shona Wright, community fire safety manager at Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue, said: “Shrove Tuesday is always really popular so we thought we’d take the opportunity to find out what makes the perfect pancake for the people of Lincolnshire.

“I hope as many people as possible will get involved and tell us what their favourite is, as well as taking the opportunity to pick up some top cooking and safety tips.

“No matter what filling gets you’re vote though, if you’re the designated chef please remember to stay safe whilst cooking.

“Try not to use too much oil and never leave the pan unattended. If it does catch fire don’t try to move it or put water on it; just turn off the heat, leave the building and call 999.”
