Jeanette's jelly stunt to help baby Joshua

THURSDAY JANUARY 24, 14:45: A Horncastle care worker is going to raise money for a two year old's vital treatment by sitting in a bath of jelly and ice cream...in the middle of the Market Place.

Jeanette Stevenson, the entertainments manager at Tanglewood Nursing Home, decided to organise an event to help Joshua James Smith after reading of his plight in last week's News.

Joshua needs to have a special helmet made and fitted in the next three months if his plagiocephaly, a headshape problem, is to be corrected.

They have been told the helmet, not available on the NHS, must be fitted by his first birthday in April if it is to do any good.

Jeanette said: "We do a lot of fundraising for the home and the residents but when I read about Joshua I decided I wanted to do something to help him.

"I saw that it was a race against time to help him so I've organised the event for February 7, even though it will be very cold.

"I've decided to do it on a Thursday because it's market day and hopefully there will be plenty of people around to donate some money."

Anyone who would like to sponsor Jeanette can call her at Tanglewoods on 01507 527265 or at home on 01507 523059.

Joshua's dad Gary, a janitor, and his uncle Paul are planning to start the fund by having a sponsored leg waxing session and Paul and a friend also intend to do a sponsored walk round Horncastle dressed in drag.

l Anyone able to help is asked to contact Jane Storr on 01507 524813.
