A runner from Hagworthingham is appealing for residents and businesses in the area to get behind her London Marathon fundraiser.

Jackie Rhodes will be tackling the 26 mile course in April and is hoping to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

Jackie is the owner of Indigo Hair Design in Horncastle and is raising money for Children with Cancer UK after a young member of her staff died with the illness at the age of 18.

“A girl who used to work with us on Saturdays died when she was 18 because of cancer,” Jackie said. “It was a real shock for all of us.

“I’ve not done the London marathon before, so I wanted to give it a go and raise some money for a good cause.”

Jackie is holding a fundraising ball at the Petwood Hotel for 170 people in April and is looking for businesses or residents to donate raffle prizes or sponsor her ahead of her run on April 21.

“I’m hoping to raise around £2,000 from the ball and any donations are greatly appreciated.”

Jackie is a member of the Skegness Coasters running club and is racking up 40 miles a week in her own training sessions ahead of the London marathon.

If you wish to donate to Jackie contact her on 01507 522099 or 07774 081664.
