Horncastle grammar student is rising star of engineering world

A student from Horncastle's Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School has been recognised as a rising star of the engineering world.

Ben Shingler has become one of an elite set of engineering students to receive a Diamond Jubilee Scholarship from the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).

The scholarships will provide Ben with at least £1,000 per academic year, as part of the IET and its partners £3million investment in the UK’s up and coming engineering talent over the next five years.

He will also benefit from mentoring and work experience placements through the IET’s extensive networks.

“We are really pleased to give financial help to the 102 young people as a result of our prestigious Diamond Jubilee scholarships,” said Naomi Climer, IET President.

“We hope that they will go on to become the leaders of tomorrow in an industry which offers a diverse range.”
