There are nine remaining parish churches in use in the Parish of the Asterby Group following the closure of St Michael and All Angels at Market Stainton and the annual round of Harvest Festival Services begins this month.
St Helen’s Church, Burgh on Bain, was the first to celebrate the harvest home and St Germans Church, Ranby, now linked with Market Stainton, is next, to be held on Friday September 20 at 7pm.
On Sunday September 22 the harvest festival service at St Peter’s Church, Gayton le Wold, will start at 3pm and on Friday October 4 the annual harvest festival service will be held at St Andrew’s Church, Donington on Bain, at 7pm.
The seasonal decorations will be left up over the weekend as the annual Harvest Service for the village Forget Me Not Club will be held on Monday October 7, followed by afternoon tea in the village hall.
The harvest festival service at St Julian’s Church, Benniworth, is planned for Sunday October 6 at 6pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend any or all of the harvest festival services in the parish churches.
