A group of fundraisers have reason to celebrate after raising nearly £6,000 for a cancer charity, despite forming just a few months ago.

All About Pink, was formed by a group of businesswomen in the area and have been successfully organising events to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

Tracey Collins, a breast cancer survivor, along with friends Doreen Buzzard and Kim Hooton have organised events including fashion shows over the last few years and have recently decided to commit to regular events and activities in support of Cancer Research UK and its research into breast cancer.

Tracey said: “Fundraising and reaching this amount of money makes us incredibly proud but if our events and awareness makes one person go home and check their selves only to find something that doesn’t feel quite right and goes along to see their GP, then it will have been worth it.

“The fact that Cancer Research UK can restrict our fundraising to their research into breast cancer really spurs us on.”

Plans for the ladies’ next event are well underway and All About Pink will be hosting a Holistic Evening at Horncastle’s Admiral Rodney Hotel on Thursday April 10.

There will be an array of Mediums, Astrology, Tarot Card readers and holistic therapies on offer.

Tickets are priced at £3 and are available from Glen James, Woodhall Spa, Jobow, Horncastle, House of Mulberry, Horncastle or by calling Tracey on 07788 145351.

The ladies successfully hosted a Ladies Night at the Admiral Rodney Hotel last year and raised more than £3,000 split between Cancer Research UK and Candles.

Doreen also had her head shaved by her younger sister and raised £600 towards the total.

Cancer Research UK’s Local Fundraising Manager Andrea Day said: “Cancer Research UK relies on all our amazing volunteers across the UK to raise vital funds.

“Today eight out of 10 breast cancer patients now survive for 20 years or long thanks to research and early diagnosis and Cancer Research UK has been at the forefront of this, it is because of commitment from people like this that we are bringing forward the day when all cancers will be cured.

“We are proud and privileged to work with All About Pink, congratulations and sincere thanks to you all.”
