‘Excellent - apart from the weather’. That was the verdict on the successful Horncastle Summer Festival.

The Festival committee met to review the summer event and to plan for the Christmas Cracker. to be held in the town on November 30.

Chairman Fiona Martin opened the meeting by thanking the committee for their hard work before and during the event.

She said that without dedicated volunteers and help from LIVES, JD Transport, Horncastle Fire Brigade, Horncastle Farmers Club, Rotary Club of Horncastle and Horncastle Police, these events would not happen.

The committee are also very grateful to Horncastle Town Council, which give a substantial grant every year in order for the events to be staged.

The committee thanked the many two businesses that had given financial support to this year’s festival.

The next committee meeting will be held on Monday August 11 at 7pm in the Community Room at Fortuna Business Centre (formally Horncastle College), Boston Road, Horncastle.

New volunteers are always welcome. The committee would also be happy to hear from anyone with ideas to make future events a success.
