THE dream wedding of Carly Streamer and Stuart Dowman looked to have been left in ruins after the closure of the Woodhall Spa Hotel, until Coningsby’s Leagate Inn stepped in.

After Carly sent out pleas on Facebook, the Leagate replied to Carly and offered to help salvage their wedding reception after they were let down in July, just two months before their big day.

The Dowman’s were married earlier this month and Carly said the day went better than the couple could have imagined.

“It was fantastic. The Leagate did really well.

“The food was excellent, the staff were brilliant. I can’t fault them.

“After having it all set in our minds we wanted it to be as good as we imagined - but it turned out to be even better.”

Carly explained that she sent out messages on Facebook to a number of businesses, and the Leagate replied almost instantly.

“They really were brilliant. They let us do what we wanted to do.

“They let us bring all our plans to their place, and they accommodated our needs.

“The restaurant was brilliant, and we wanted to put on a buffet in the evening which they put in another room for us.”

Carly also thanked her mother and sister as they helped out with the organisation of the wedding reception.

Josh Dennison, of the Leagate Inn, said: “I saw their appeal on Facebook and I knew we didn’t have any weddings booked for September.

“So I got in touch with them and said we could help out.

“We managed to do them a good deal on the food, and the day went really well.

“The restaurant ran well, and everything went smoothly on the day.”

“We didn’t do it for our own gains. It was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives and we were happy to help.”
