She’s a mum-of-two, a devoted wife and works full time. Little wonder Danielle Pole struggles to fit everything into a 24-hour day.

Oh - by the way - she also loves running and walking.

It’s probably just as well because Danielle has set herself a daunting challenge in 2013...running or walking 2,013 miles to raise money for charity.

That’s nothing though compared to her long-term dream.

She would love to run the Great Walk of China - and the Inca Trail in South America.

Danielle, 32, from Tattershall, said: “I’ve always tried to keep fit but I didn’t really start running until last year.

“I did three events for charity and managed to raise £1,400.

“Things have just snowballed from there.

“I want to try and complete 2,013 miles this year. When I started, I thought it was a good idea. I’m not so sure now though!”

Danielle, a transport coordinator for a Sleaford-based company, lost her father to cancer more than ten years ago.

She admits she is taking part in her special ‘marathon’ in his honour.

She added: “I still miss my dad and hopefully he’d be proud of what I am doing.”

Her challenge means that Danielle has to cover five-and-a-half miles every day. She has already clocked up 55 miles this year.

She is raising money for four charities, Macmillan Cancer Support, Pancreatic Cancer Action, Cancer Research UK and Walk the Walk.

Her programme features walks and runs all over the country, including the Great North Run in September. She’s also entered the London Shine - a 26.2 mile night walk.

The toughest event is the 100km Trans-Pennine Challenge which Danielle hopes to complete in 24 hours.

Luckily, Danielle can count on support from husband Dave and children Kieron (13) and Jessica (3).
