Couple take a different approach for their wedding

WHILE Prince William and Kate Middleton are preparing tie the knot luxury style next weekend, a Belchford couple decided to take a different route up the aisle on their special day.

Farmer Andrew Tuxworth and his bride Susan Dewsbury had a more ‘no thrills’ approach to their big day.

They simply threw on their walking gear and rambled eight miles across the fields from Flintwood Farm, along with their two labradors, in order to get married at Horncastle Registry Office.

And they even chose to wed on April Fool’s Day.

“We thought it would be fun,” said Susan.

“We wanted it to be different and this was seemed like a nice thing to do. It was really windy and raining at first but it was lovely and the tractors were ploughing the fields. We picked wild flowers to wear on the way as well.

“We enjoy walking together and it is something that we wanted to do for ourselves, something nice to remember.”

But Susan did allow one traditional element of bridalwear.

She wore a veil during the ceremony, which was made by her friends from the Getaway Club.

They often volunteer at the social group for adults with learning difficulties, based at Clarence House in West Street, Horncastle.

Members of the group even organised a wedding party for them.

Although Andrew and Susan, who are both in their 50s, originally planned to just have the two of them at the ceremony, Andrew decided to have a Best Man there (Marc Stephenson) along with a few close family members

Their honeymoon plans are equally as individual.

The couple are planning on taking a trip in a campervan when they get a chance.

“We have just bought the campervan,” explained Susan.

“It is parked outside and we will probably be going to the beach at some point. There are no plans but we might go on a ten year honeymoon.”

The Tuxworths run self-catering holiday cottages at their farm.
