Councillors ready to step up snow plan

Woodhall Spa Parish
Councillors are to hold a meeting to discuss ways of improving the village’s snow and ice plan.

The plan has proved to be a success this winter and has attracted praise from residents and district councillors.

Backed by investment from the parish council, a team of volunteers have tried to keep footpaths and other areas clear of snow and ice.

One major bonus has been the purchase of a pavement gritter which has been widely used in busy areas.

Councillors are keen to expand the scheme and have already agreed to increase the village precept in council tax bills to fund improvements.

Coun Richard Sanderson, one of the volunteers, said: “The clearing operation has been a lot better and the pavement gritter has made a big difference.”

District councillor Craig Leyland said he was particularly impressed by efforts to keep pavements
in the centre of the village clear.

Councillors will meet in April to discuss possible improvements.
