COLUMN: We'll aim for great care close to home

As we settle in to 2016 and prepare for what it has in store for us at Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust it feels like a good time to look back over some of the high points we had in 2015.

We were named in the Health Service Journal’s (HSJ) and Nursing Times’ Top 100 Best Places to Work 2015.

We also celebrated our 21st Queen’s Nurse honour and are very proud of our ever growing team of Queen’s Nurses at LCHS. The title is not an award for past service, but indicates a commitment to high standards of patient care, leadership and learning

I must also give recognition to staff working in our communities all over the county who have performed admirably all year round to continue supporting patients. They have not only gone the extra mile to keep their own services running, but also stepped in to support colleagues working for other health organisations.

This is a great example of how the entire health community continues to work together to make sure you have access to the best and most appropriate care as close to your home as possible.

Looking forward to the challenges of 2016 we will continue to work closely with other local NHS organisations to plan over the coming years how we will deliver a sustainable, transformed health service and to improve quality of care, wellbeing and NHS finances. It is always our mission to provide great care close to home and the strong national message is to keep patients at home where possible and out of hospital; freeing up beds for those who really need them. The NHS in Lincolnshire will be working together to try to achieve this as part of the Lincolnshire Health and Care programme.
