Church sold for £50,000 at property auction
A CHURCH was one of the properties up for grabs at an auction last week.
The old Methodist church in the hamlet of New York sold for £50,000 when it went under the hammer at the Bentley Hotel on Tuesday.
There was a selection of different lots at the County Property Auction on the day including arable farmland and a five-bedroom detached house in the Lincolnshire Wolds.
The auction room was packed full of eager buyers, all wanted to get a good deal.
Auctioneer, Rob Ward, said: “We are very please to report that 13/19 lots have been sold realising around £1.75 million.
“The County Property Auction provides the buyer or seller with the benefit of knowing that once the hammer falls the contract is legal and binding.
“This means there is no chance of gazumping, no breakdown of chain, no change of mind and the heady delight that you can move in there in just over a month’s time.”
The next County Property Auction takes place this Thursday, July 21, at the Newark Showground and then Wednesday, September 28 at The Bentley Hotel, from 7pm.
Full details of all lots and their selling price can be viewed at jhwalter/propertyauctions where Buyers Number Registration Form, Proxy/Telephone Bidding Form and Selling Guide can also be downloaded.
