Charities bowled over by fundraiser

THE chairman of East Lindsey District Council, Stan Avison, held a bowls tournament at Horncastle Indoor Bowls in aid of the Air Ambulance and the Royal British Legion.

It was sponsored by Tingdene Parks Limited and Horncastle Indoor Bowls Club. 60 bowlers took part, overseen by George Lancaster.

The winners were John Scholey and John and Margaret Brown who kindly handed over their winnings of £60 to the two charities.

Maurice Edwards, John Hoyles and Colin Elliott, who came second, also donated their prizemoney of £39.

A raffle raised £211 and organisers thanked everyone who donated prizes. Steve Bradley donated a bottle of whiskey for a special draw which raised £67.

The overall total raised was £677.
