Drooling was definitely the order of the day at Crowders Garden Centre in Horncastle last weekend.
For once, the impressive array of plants had to take second billing as the garden centre organised a special food festival – and duly attracted many of the region’s top producers.
The star guest was TV chef Rachel Green who used the produce to cook some mouthwatering dishes - to the obvious delight of visitors and staff.
Garden Centre manager Ken Dawson said: “It was a tremendous day and we were delighted so many people turned up.”
It was the centre’s first food festival but they are already hard at work planning for similar events in the summer and next Christmas.
The range of displays included Chapman’s Seafood, Goatwood Dairy, Jennie’s Jams, Cote Hill Farm Cheese, Crepe Lucette, Smith’s Smokery, The Dip Society, Old Elephant Fudge and Skidbrooke Cyder.
Mr Dawson added: “Everyone had a great time. We were very busy. The summer event will have a barbecue theme and we’re sure that will be just as popular.”
