This is the fourth year that the national event is taking place, and the theme for
2016 is “celebration”.

One of the homes involved in the scheme is Stewton House Care Home, in Louth. General manager Linda Hammonds said: “The idea behind the day is to encourage local people to visit care homes in their community and to work together to
develop better relationships.

“The important connection is something that Stewton has nurtured
since opening, and the home is already acting as a community hub, including
participating in Lovely Louth and welcoming school children into the
home for visits.”

This year, Stewton House will be hosting their open day with a 1920s theme to
mark the Queen’s 90th
birthday year.

Ms Hammonds continued: “This is a great way to show the excellent services on offer and the
fantastic work that goes on at Stewton House.

“Some people still have misconceptions about care homes, so we are keen to dispel any myths and for people to come and have a look round, meet the
staff and residents.”
