Calls for face to face interviews

THE owners of a Horncastle business are calling for a face to face meeting with Lincolnshire County Council to discuss problems with the roadworks,

Dinah Ward and Jo Scarboro, owners of the Horncastle Hobby House, said: “We are fighting for our livelihoods in a time of recession while the county council are not helping with their constant excuses.”

The duo added that they must be one of the “minority group” of people who are not happy with the progress of the works - and what they claim is the continuing failure of the Highways Department to complete the schedule on time.

They said: “Coun Aron is accusing us of getting adverse publicity and damaging the town. The people who are damaging the town and getting the adverse publicity they thoroughly deserve are the Highways Department of Lincolnshire County Council.

“It appears from what we have been
told that if we don’t behave ourselves
and say what a wonderful job they are doing, we shall not get any other highways work done in Horncastle. What tosh.

“We have a lovely town with many
specialist shops but a large majority of shopkeepers, especially in the North Street/Bull Ring area have complained about how their trade has been badly affected, but we do not seem to get this over to Coun Aron who seems hell bent on running the Highways fan club and not supporting the shop business community.”
