A LINCOLNSHIRE woman who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003 has now been given the opportunity to strut her stuff at The Breast Cancer Care Show in London on Wednesday October 3.

Diana Walker, from New Bolingbroke, has been selected as one of 24 models taking part in the show at the Grosvenor Park Hotel in London’s Mayfair district.

She said: “I just applied for it and they chose me as one of the models.

“I couldn’t believe it when they called, I thought it was a joke or someone was having me on.

“I wanted to get involved and raise some money, after all Breast Cancer Care helped save my life.”

Diana will be wearing clothing styled by fashion correspondent Hilary Alexander, hair by Sassoon and make-up by Estée Lauder.

“We’ll be doing two shows on the day, and I can’t wait to get glammed up.

“We’ll be wearing some clothing by Vivienne Westwood too.”

Diana, 57, was previously a hairdresser until she was diagnosed with breast cancer, and admitted: “The news was devastating, but family support got me through a long year of treatment.

“Two months into my treatment I was feeling low and incredibly useless until news came that another grandchild was due.

“With this I was determined to win the battle and finally I had hope.

“The show is a great way to show people with breast cancer that life goes on and how we should appreciate everything in life.”

Diana also wished to thank the region’s hospitals, which have given her support over the years.

“The hospitals round here have been fabulous, particularly Pilgrim Hospital at Boston.

“Dr. Busch at Stickney Surgery has been a big help as well.”

She has also used this as an opportunity to raise more money for Breast Cancer Care, and has collected raffle prizes to take to the show with her, which will be auctioned off on the night.

Karen is also raising money to donate to Breast Cancer Care. Donations can be made at: www.justgiving.com/diana-walker-catwalk.
