Organisers of service in Dalderby to commemorate the start of World War One are appealing for information about four individuals whose names are included on a memorial.
Dalderby was named ‘Lincolnshire’s Bravest Village’ in 1916 after 12 local men - including five brothers - fought in the conflict.
At the time, 40 people lived in Dalderby and the 12 men made up the highest percentage of any village in the country.
The commemorative service will be held on July 27 at the Dalderby Cross Memorial, which was paid for by members of the Lincoln Incorporated Chamber of Commerce.
There are several Garners and Scholeys named on the Cross.
They are still well known in the area and their families will be involved in the service.
However, there are four others names mentioned who organisers have no knowledge of.
The four are JE Rylatt, FA Rylatt, W White and F White.
Margaret Brinn, who is helping put the service together, said: “Please may we appeal to readers of the Horncastle News to get in touch, with the paper if they can help us ”
