Almost 3,000 hats knitted for babies in Tibet

AN AMAZING 2,730 woolly hats have been handed in to Horncastle's Hobby House for the Children's Knit Appeal.

Shop owners Jo Scarbro and Dinah Ward said they are delighted with the response from people knitting woolly hats for babies at risk of hyperthermia in Tibet and Africa.

Jay Dee Transport in Horncastle has kindly agreed to deliver the hats to the charity’s HQ in London for free.

“A big thank you to everyone who has contributed,” said Jo.

“We have one lady who has done 230 all by herself. They have all been brilliant.”

The great response has led them to support another knitting appeal, the Baby Pack Project.

This is a small charity aimed at providing under-privileged mothers of newborn babies on the lower south coast of Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa, with a pack of the most basic items needed for a new born baby – such as jumpers and blankets.

All of the knitted items received are placed into packs and given to mother’s of new born babies.

Jo said: “Everybody was so keen to carry on and asked us what was next – so, I Googled knitting charities and came across this charity which seemed to stand out.”
