Abbey farm in award contention

1pm, Friday - A STIXWOULD farm is through to the final round of the East of England Countryside Alliance Awards for producing local food.

If successful, James and Lucy Barclay of Abbey Farm could earn themselves a regional title and possibly nationwide acclaim for their products.

Since 2002, James and Lucy have produced and sold rare breed meat, Lincoln Red beef, Gloucester Old Spot pork and Jacob lamb.

A Countryside Alliance spokesperson said: "The awards celebrate the characters, skills, traditions and enterprise of the countryside through the people who work so hard to make it tick."
