Community groups in the Horncastle News area have been benefitting from local shoppers.
The Community Champions scheme sees every one of the Lincolnshire Co-op Society’s 240,000 members linked to a good cause close to where they live.
Every time they use their dividend card in any Lincolnshire Co-op outlets where dividend is issued, a donation from the Community Champions pot goes towards their local good cause.
A total of £43,065 has been raised over the past three months for more than 80 local good causes.
Horncastle Tiny Tots received almost £600 from the scheme, St Michael’s Church at Coningsby £1,494, Woodhall Spa United Football Club £961, Wragby Pre-School £417, St John the Divine at Southrey £329 and Alford Sports Clubs almost £1,000.
Lincolnshire Co-op is encouraging members of local groups and organisations who need money to put towards a project to apply to become a Community Champion.
Application forms in store or at www.lincolnshire.coop/communitychampions.
