There is just one week left for people to vote and help Horncastle-based charity LIVES secure up to £3,000 in a community award scheme.

LIVES has been shortlisted for Lloyds Bank Community Fund Award 2014 – an initiative aiming to provide funds to a number of charities throughout the UK.

LIVES is an emergency care service which provides vital help in the minutes before ambulance crews arrive at the scene of an accident.

It gives a county-wide service and relies on volunteers to be ‘on call’ to offer assistance.

The charity was shortlisted for the Lloyds cash awards by people in the local community.

LIVES spokesman Steve Hyde said the shortlisting recognises the hard work of the charity’s brave medics and first responders who help people every day across the county.

He added: “We are so pleased that the work of LIVES and its volunteers has been recognised by the local community.

“Every single vote is extremely important, as it will bring us closer to receiving vital funding that will help LIVES to continue supporting the people of Lincolnshire.

“We want to encourage Lincolnshire people to vote for us – and support us as we are a Lincolnshire charity which has saved the lives of hundreds of local people over the years,”

*Voting closes on October 10.
