Lincolnshire Police have asked residents in the county to be vigilant following a telephone scam that has been targeting people in the local area.

In the scam phone call, the caller states he is DC Wright of the Metropolitan Police based at Paddington station. He claims that he is currently carrying out a fraud investigation relating to credit cards, and requests details of your credit cards so that they can be checked.

Lincolnshire Police are asking residents never to give out details of this nature, as police officers would normally call in person and carry identification.

The Metropolitan Police are investigating this matter and would welcome any further information, such as caller ID and telephone numbers.

Please report any similar occurrence by ringing 101 and quoting incident 113 of October 27.
