Tesco - Support has been inspiring

I would like to extend a warm thank you to Tesco colleagues and customers from Lincolnshire for their dedicated efforts in raising funds for Diabetes UK and the British Heart Foundation to date.

Since the three-year partnership between these two charities and Tesco was launched in January 2015, customer donations, along with store colleagues’ fundraising, have contributed £7.14 million to the £10 million raised to date.

This includes £614,000 raised by customers and colleagues at Tesco stores in Lincolnshire.

Thanks to these tireless fundraising efforts, the National Charity Partnership has been able to launch its ‘Let’s Do This’ campaign, which will include projects that aim to encourage people to get active and eat well to help to reduce the risk of developing both heart and circulatory disease and type 2 diabetes.

People living with type 2 diabetes are at a higher risk of developing heart and circulatory disease.

With millions of people in England at increased risk of developing both conditions, it is hoped that projects like this will help reduce this number.

The ongoing commitment shown by Tesco colleagues in Lincolnshire to fundraise for this cause is truly inspiring.

I am also hugely grateful to the store’s customers who have shown their support at in-store events and would encourage them to continue to do so.

The next major fundraiser – a football inspired event – will take place in stores nationwide from June 3 to 5.
