Police in Horncastle investigated 101 incidents in the town in January - an increase of three on the previous month.

Speaking at a Town Council meeting last week, PSCO Nigel Wass assured councillors and residents that January was still a ‘relatively quiet month’.

PSCO Wass has previously stressed that Horncastle has some of the lowest crime figures in the county for a town of its size.

He said there had been ‘very few problems’ associated with anti social behaviour, and said patrols were enforcing residents-only traffic regulations in Queen Street and Foundry Street.

He confirmed a new Inspector was due to take charge in the Horncastle area while a new Chief Inspector was being appointed for the area.
