A Horncastle Town councillor has said any plans to make major changes to key departments at Boston Pilgrim Hospital ‘beggared belief”.
There is widespread speculation the United Lincolnshire Hospitals Trust is considering the future of the accident and emergency and maternity departments as part of wide-ranging cuts.
It is understood A&E services could be reduced at Boston in favour of a ‘major hub’ at Lincoln.
Town councillor Linda Baker said she was concerned about the possibility of changes at a time when the NHS was appealing to people to stay away from A&E departments - except in an emergency.
She said: “Only this week, they were asking people not to go to Lincoln.
“This whole thing beggars belief.”
