Help beat heart disease in Lindsey
MORE people die of heart disease in East Lindsey than anywhere else in Lincolnshire, according to new figures released by the British Heart Foundation.
In the district, 239 people die each year of heart disease.
Across the East Midlands, 6,127 men and women on average die from heart disease every year.
And in order to help support the fight against heart disease, the BHF is urging people throughout Lincolnshire to go Red for Heart and join in National Wear Red Day on Friday, February 24 to help raise vital funds.
Helena Mair, BHF Fundraising and volunteer manager in Lincolnshire, said: “The figures published in our coronary heart disease statistics 2012 give a snapshot of the state of the nation’s heart health.
“These show that every year more than 68,499 men and women in England lose their lives to heart disease, the country’s single biggest killer.
“Cardiovascular disease can affect anyone, young and old, perhaps a baby born with a hole in the heart or a friend or colleague who suffers a heart attack.
“Whether you have high blood pressure or high cholesterol we are working to ensure these conditions can one day be eliminated.”
There’s lots of information, ideas and tips about how to go Red for Heart on the BHF’s website at bhf.org.uk/red and to order a free Red for Heart fundraising kit call 0300 330 0645.
