ELDC show support for No Smoking Day

East Lindsey District Council is supporting next week’s national No Smoking Day by providing free health screenings for the district’s 140,000 residents and a free seven day fitness pass for local people to take advantage of and use its leisure centres.

No Smoking Day takes place next Wednesday and it is organised by the British Heart Foundation.

It encourages smokers to ‘swap fags for swag’.

As well as health benefits, the campaign highlights the money that can be saved by quitting.

As well as Horncastle Swimming Pool and Lifestyle Fitness Suite, the Meridian Leisure Centre in Louth and Station Sports Centre in Mablethorpe will be providing the health screenings.

To book a free
appointment please contact the swimming pool directly on 01507 522489.

As well as this, the district council’s health team, along with a Hearty Lives project coordinator from East Lindsey, will be holding a drop in session at the Learning Centre in Mablethorpe on Tuesday March 12 from 10am until 2pm, providing information and advice on stopping smoking, as well as free health checks.

Portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism, Councillor Adam Grist, said: “No Smoking Day is a fantastic opportunity to quit smoking for good and I would encourage everyone to take advantage of the free health checks that the district council is providing.

“The information and advice that our teams are able to offer can help local people to give up this life threatening habit once and for all.”
