The good people of the Royal Oak Pub at Tattershall Bridge have been spreading some Christmas cheer. Every year, landlords Paula and Steve, together with their helpers, hold raffles to raise money to buy the contents of the hampers, which contain, as well as basic food, lots of Christmas treats, a Christmas cake, a cracker, chocolates, a book to read and a woolly bobble hat to keep out the cold.
Local priests, the Rev Margaret Done and the Rev Sue Allison have been asked to deliver the hampers to people in need, or in poor health.
“It is a joy to see the faces of the recipients who were very surprised and thankful,” said the Rev Done. “Paula and her helpers are stars – they have been doing these hampers for the last six years at least and it shows our community how kind these folk are.”
