RAF Coningsby’s Wallis Group presented its station commander with a cheque for £2,000 – cash which funded the base’s recent bonfire night, ensuring it was one of the most spectacular in recent memory.
The money came from the hugely popular Sunset Photo Shoot. Held to catch the beauty of the wide open Lincolnshire skies, it attracted a vast amount of interest from both professional and amateur photographers.
The Wallis Group is made up of personnel from areas across the station, including reservists, civil servants and contractors. It has been challenged with trying to make RAF Coningsby a better place to live and work.
The scope for the group is wide ranging, from making suggestions on how the station could function more efficiently, to helping to raise money for future events.
