The Three Horseshoes Pub’s plans also includes the siting of up to 10 caravans or 10 tents (or a combination of the two), plus a separate application for the conversion of a barn into three en-suite holiday bedrooms.

Ian Peet, the landlord, spoke of his ‘vision’ which would ‘offer an alternative that isn’t available in the Wolds at the moment’.

He described ‘glamping’ as a growing market, adding that it would be a ‘natural fit’ for an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

Mr Peet described village pubs as an ‘endangered species’ and said the plans would allow his business to generate income and have a sustainable future.

Regarding the additional conversation of the barn into holiday bedrooms, Mr Peet said it would allow a ‘different type of accommodation’ which would ‘complement’ the camping and glamping options. He added that the barn is currently dilapidated.

Councillor Tom Ashton was impressed with the plans, describing them as a ‘fantastic opportunity for a rural area’.

For both applications, Coun Ashton proposed approval and permission was promptly granted.
