Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival comes to Horncastle this week with a concert featuring festival director Ashley Wass.

This year’s festival focuses on the relationship between
music and literature, with
seven concerts being performed under the heading Magna Musica.

And this Friday, August 14, Trio Apaches perform ‘The Mirror of Life’ in St Mary’s Church.

Pianist Ashley Wass, now in his ninth year as the Lincolnshire Festival’s artistic director, Matthew Trusler on violin and Thomas Carroll on cello, will be joined by French viola player, Lise Berthaud, one of the prestigious BBC Radio 3 New Generation artists.

Two piano quartets by Schumann and Brahms frame a modern work by the young British composer Cheryl Frances-Hoad entitled “My Fleeting Angel”.

The concert will be recorded by the BBC for transmission on Radio 3 later in the year, as will the final concert of the Festival on Saturday, August 15, at 7.30pm at the Drill Hall in Lincoln.

Tickets for the concert in St Mary’s Church are available from Horncastle Music Shop in The Bull Ring, call 01507 526566.
