Villagers can switch on to a new solar power scheme in Belchford

Have your say

Belchford could become one of the first villages in the county to form its own solar power companies - with residents cashing in on any profits.

A meeting is being held this Saturday to invite people to join the Belchford Community Solar Co-op Limited.

The company is the idea of Belchford resident Peter Hughes, who says people who sign up can make a healthy return from their investment and become more energy efficient.

Mr Hughes claims the scheme is for anyone who:

*thinks they pay too much for electricity

*would like to keep profits in the local community

*wants to generate their own electricity.

The open meeting will be held at Belchford Village Hall at 11am or Mr Hughes can be contacted on 01507 5333322.
