Country fair for all the family

ORGANISERS of the Revesby Country Fair claim this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

The fair, this Sunday, is believed to be the largest one-day show in the region and attracts thousands of visitors.

More than 250 trade stands from all over the country will be selling and displaying everything for the family, including quality food and beverage stalls.

In total, there will be ten event rings. The main ring will be action packed from 9.30am, with the final attraction - terrier racing “Revesby style” - which is scheduled for 5pm.

Events include the spectacular Stampede stunt company, who will perform an amazing display of jousting and horseback archery.

The Paws For Thought dog display team promise to be another major attraction. They have performed at Crufts and will be travelling all the way from Monmouthshire.

Ridgeside Falconry, which features the largest mobile display in the country, should also prove to be popular.

There are a host of other displays, including mounted fancy dress and a chainsaw carving demonstration. Usually, the completed products are auctioned off at the end of the afternoon.

The various horse rings always prove popular and once again, the 2012 programme has everything, from dressage to show-jumping, and shire horses to a gymkhana. Riders of all abilities and ages will be taking part.

There will be a poultry tent, a flower tent and a ferret show, as well as a funfair for younger visitors and a new countryside discovery area.

Traditionally, the display of vintage cars, old tractors and oil engines also pulls in visitorst.

Dog-owners are invited to take along their pets to take part in the numerous dog rings and the open gun-dog scurry.

There are various other competitions including clay pigeon shooting, fly fishing and archery.

Country Fair chairman John Roe said: “We have a wonderful parkland setting with easy access and parking,”

Admission is £25 per car. Gates open at 8.30am and further details are available from revesby-country-fair.co.uk
