School appeals for funding votes

Kirkby-on-Bain Primary School is appealing for votes that could help secure a £5,000 prize to redevelop a community nature reserve.

It is one of four organisations in the Lincoln area that has reached the final stages of the Lloyds Banking Group Community Fund Award, and they are now competing for one of two cash prizes.

The school is seeking support to enhance an outdoor play area in a woodland reserve next to the school playing field. This space will be available to use not only by the children at the school but also by the local community and visitors.

The school aims to maximise learning opportunities as well as provide an exciting area to explore.

Pupils from each year group at the school meet once per month to discuss how to develop the nature reserve.

With the help of volunteer parents and a representative from the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust, work has already begun to implement their ideas.

If successful in their bid for funding, the school aims to realise these plans fully, using the suggestions provided by the children to benefit all who come to the space.

To vote for Kirkby-on-Bain, text ‘Vote LN1’ to 61119. Alternatively, go to www.lloydsbankinggroupcommunities.com/communityfund, search for ‘Kirkby on Bain’, click ‘Vote’ and follow the instructions. Only one vote can be made from each mobile or email address. Voting is open until September. 8
