New status and staff for school

A Woodhall Spa Primary School has much to celebrate after achieving academy status and welcoming five new staff members.

On August 1 2012, St. Andrew’s Primary School became one of the first Primary Academies in the area.

Headteacher John Whalley has stated that there are “exciting times ahead” for all concerned with the school.

He said: “The school’s goal is to prodvide a broad and balanced curriculum that not only allows all children to succeed but also to experience and access opportunities that will enrich their lives.

“The school has high expectations from all of its staff and their new academy status, and the appointment of such dedicated, hardworking and innovative staff is an exciting time for all.”

On behalf of the Governing Body, David Clarke said he is delighted with the school’s new status.

“The purpose of converting to an academy is to ensure that the school has the necessary tools and resources to sustain and build upon the drive to improve standards,” he said.

“I know the whole school community welcomes this opportunity and we all look forward to a challenging and rewarding fuure.”
