Teenagers in Horncastle have been offered the chance to take part in a wide range of sporting activities - free of charge.
Josh Dellow, a Sports Activator with East Lindsey District Council, is teaming up with the town’s Youth Club.
He is offering a series of multi-sport sessions which start tonight (Wednesday) and will run over the next six weeks.
The sessions will be part of the ELDC’s community activation project.
Sports on the agenda include netball, football, cricket, rounders, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, basketball, badminton, tennis and table tennis.
Mr Dellow said: “We’re looking to boost numbers at the Youth Club and sport is a great way for teenagers to get involved.
“There are the physical benefits, but the sessions will also reach social skills, confidence and team work.
“Anyone over the age of 14 is welcome. All they have to do is turn up at the Youth Club on a Wednesday evening from 7pm to 9.30pm.
“They don’t even have to be members.”
Mr Dellow explained the first six weeks would be free. A £2 charge will be introduced for the following six weeks,
The scheme is backed by district councillors Sandra Campbell Wardman and Fiona Martin.
They said: “We think it’s a great idea.
“It’s an opportunity to get kids of street corners and do something they’d enjoy.
“The fact the first six sessions are free of charge is a bonus.
“It’s also a chance to improve any links with existing sporting clubs in the town.
“At the same time, it will hopefully increase the membership at the Youth Club.”
