GCSE TABLES: How the Horncastle area schools did

Schools in the region are celebrating exam success after the release last week of the national GCSE league tables.

Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School has maintained its high standards and 99% of pupils achieved five A* to C grades including English and Maths.

The most improved in the area was Banovallum School, where 69% of pupils gained five A* to C grades including maths and English, up 14 per cent from 55% compared with last year.

The increase at the school saw pupils perform higher than the national average in achieving five A*-C results. The national average is 83%.

Headteacher Nikki Shore said: “We are delighted with the success of our students over the last 12 months.

“We are working all the time to help them reach their goals.

On results day, Nikki said:“We were fairly certain that Year 11 were going to achieve a record year as we tracked their progress closely.”

Gartree Community School also improved on last years results, rising to 45% from 36%.

William Lovell Academy, attended by a number of pupils in the area, also improved to 67% A* to C including English and Maths.

William Lovell headteacher Andrew Fulbrook said: “I am delighted with the publication of the performance table information. It is an outstanding achievement to be recognised as the highest performing school of our type, on the Government’s key indicator. Once again, praise and credit should be given to our staff and to students who attend our Academy.”
