POPULAR children’s author Alex Scarrow visited Horncastle to talk to pupils about his series of books and previous lives as a musician and computer games designer.
More than 300 pupils from Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School, Banovallum School, and St. Hugh’s School, Woodhall Spa, came to hear his inspiration for his popular series TimeRiders.
The novels focus on a group of teenagers who protect the established events of history and travel back in time to fix any changes.
Alex explained that his previous line of work as a computer games designer didn’t allow him to express his ideas or use his imagination as much as writing allowed and that he saved ideas to use for his novels.
Julianne Coggan, school librarian at QEGS, said: “The children had a lot of questions for him, they were very interested in hearing about his inspiration and work as a games designer.
“He said books take you to places video games can’t.”
