There will be a host of familiar faces - and tired limbs - on view this Friday in a special football challenge match to celebrate Banovallum School’s 50th anniversary.
The match - which will be staged at The Wong - will involve past and present players from the school spanning the last 50 years.
The ’Last Decade’ team will be managed by deputy head and physical education teacher at Banovallum, Ian Leary. It will be captained by past pupil Jack Baxter.
They will take on the might of the previous decades - ‘The Best of the Rest’ - managed by former physical education teacher Geoff Holmes and captained by another former pupil Elton Battista.
Both teams will include former pupils and teachers - with guest appearances from current teachers and staff.
Headteacher Nicki Shore said the match was an ideal opportunity to celebrate 50 years of Banovallum with the community.
She said the match would also strengthen relations with the football club and support ambitious plans to build a new clubhouse at The Wong.
Ms Shore added: “We are very proud of Banovallum’s status as a community school and are tremendously grateful for the support the town gives us.
“This match represents the shared history and sporting traditions of the school and we are really looking forward to it.”
The game will kick off at 7pm.
