VIDEO: Friday January 4 afternoon update: Mary Scott - Public respond to police plea for help in Mary Scott search

Waiting for Video...

The search continues for missing 83-year-old woman Mary (Marion) Scott.

Officers continued to carry out enquiries throughout the night and foot and vehicle searches continue today.

An extensive leaflet and poster drop was carried out last night and motorists were stopped and questioned in and around Market Rasen. Officers will continue this activity over the next couple of days.

Last night’s media coverage did lead to a number of members of the public getting in touch with officers. Several lines of enquiry were followed up, but there have been no further positive sightings of Mary.

Insp Simon Outen said: “We will be continuing our searches with specialist officers and dogs over the weekend. The local community have been amazing in their support for the searches and Mary’s family. We are asking them to help us over the weekend by continuing to check their land, sheds, barns and outbuildings every day to see if Mary s seeking shelter there. We would also ask farmers, people walking their dogs, horse riders and people taking part in hunts over the weekend to be vigilant.”

Call 101 immediately if you have any information.

Earlier Story:

Specialist police search teams looking for missing Market Rasen pensioner Mary Scott are focussing their efforts on Hainton after a reported sighting.

Mary, who has Alzheimer’s disease, went missing from her home in Acre Close on December 27.

Insp Simon Outen has again urged residents and property owners in rural areas to check their land and outbuildings for any sign of Mary.

Although Marion suffers from dementia, she is very fit and agile and may appear much younger than her age.

Marion is described as around 5ft 4in tall, of slight build with short black hair. She was wearing brown cord trousers, grey slip-on shoes and a green top. It is thought she was wearing a pink jacket.

More updates to come.
