Two jailed for Wragby armed robbery

Two men who committed an armed robbery at a Lincolnshire post office, were sentenced yesterday (Wednesday, October 24) at Lincoln Crown Court after pleading guilty to the offence.

Patrick Middlebrook (51), of Daniel Hill Street, Upperthorpe in Sheffield, and Kirk Marlow (29), of Musgrave Crescent, Longley,in Sheffield, entered the post office in Wragby on May 5 this year and threatened the postmaster with a sawn-off shotgun and a knife before fleeing with cash.

The judge sentenced Patrick Middlebrook to 20 years imprisonment indeterminate to serve a minimum of 10 years before being eligible for parole. He described him as a dangerous person.

He sentenced Kirk Marlow to 12 years imprisonment.

DC Gary Hugo said, “This was a violent offence that caused a great deal of distress to the victims and left a community shaken.

“The victims’ lives changed dramatically on the day of the offence. They were left fearful and distrusting of people.

“The sentences have provided a degree of closure to the victims and will go some way to enabling them to move on from the horrific incident”.

“The case was fast-moving and we are grateful to our colleagues in South Yorkshire Police who assisted us that day, enabling both offenders to be caught within a matter of hours.

“The sentences that the offenders received reflects the severity of the offence”.
