Teenagers admit to crime spree

Two teenagers from Mareham Le Fen have been referred to a youth offender panel for nine months after admitting a series of thefts in the village.

A 17-year-old youth and 16-year-old both pleaded guilty to four offences when they appeared before East Lincolnshire Youth Court.

The court was told the thefts happened on August 12 this year.

The duo admitted
stealing a wallet containing a 50 Euro note - and other items - belonging to Charles Roe.

They also admitted entering Willow Farm as trespassers and stealing a Honda motorcycle and a pedal cycle to the value of £920.

They pleaded guilty
to stealing another cycle
valued at £90 belonging
to Julie Crowson and
three pedal cycles valued at £750 belonging to Craig Norton.

Magistrates said they took the guilty pleas of both defendants into account before imposing the youth panel order.

The 17-year-old was also ordered to pay compensation of £50 to John Elwoood of Manor Farm and £80 to Colin Grey of Railway Cottage.

In addition, he must pay compensation of £5 to Edward Dickinson, £29 to Glyn France, £17.36 to Mareham le Fen Post Office, £7 to Helen Barker and £10 to Maureen Picker.

He admitted to 14 other offences which were taken into consideration.

The 16-year-old was ordered to pay compensation to six people and also admitted 11 other offences which were taken into consideration.

All the compensation orders related to people - or businesses - based in Marheam le Fen.

Neither defendant can be named because of reporting restrictions.
