Multiple raids bring down UK drug gang

TWO men facing multiple charges for drug related offences went on trial at Sheffield Crown Court last week.

Gregg Gosling, 44, of Ingham
Road in Coningsby and Rodney
Stanford, 29, of Coldharbour Lane in Carrington were members of a
five-man gang based in Barnsley, South Yorkshire involved in the
large-scale supply of Class A and B drugs.

Their co-defendants are Paul Lowe of Royston near Barnsley, Andrew Calder of Nottingham and Roy Walker of Mansfield.

Following an 18-month
investigation - codenamed Operation Metric - by The Serious and Organised Crime Unit, police made a series of arrests and searches in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Barnsley on January 17.

A large quantity of Class A and B drugs and a “significant amount” of cash was recovered.

The five men were all charged with drug related offences and appeared at Rotherham Magistrates’ Court on January 19.

On May 18, Gosling pleaded guilty to four charges comprising conspiracy to supply amphetamines (Class B) and MDMA, also known as ecstasy (Class A) and possessing amphetamines and cannabis (Class B) with intent to supply.

Stanford initially pleaded not guilty to three charges.

But he changed his plea to guilty and admitted conspiring to supply MDMA and possessing amphetamines and cannabis with intent to supply.

As the other gang members did not plead guilty to all charges related to the case, a trial began in Sheffield last Monday, July 16 and wound up on Thursday finding the men guilty of all charges .

The men appeared before Judge Roger Keen QC and all will be sentenced at a later date.

Gosling is remanded in custody and Stanford is on bail.
