Residents of a Horncastle cul-de-sac are hoping life will return to normal after the as yet unexplained death of a 59-year-old man in their neighbourhood.

Emergency services were called to an address in Jobson Road shorty before 4.30pm on Friday afternoon.

They found the man - who police have now confirmed was William Griffin - with serious head injuries.

He was taken to Lincoln County Hospital but died the following morning (Saturday).

Police arrested a 78-year-old woman in connection with the incident and she has since been released on bail until November 18 to allow the investigation to continue.

No charges have been made and a police spokesman said they had no plans to reveal any further details.

The News is aware of the identity of the woman but cannot name her because of legal reasons.

Police say anyone with information they feel may be relevant to their enquiry should contact 101, quoting the incident number 404 of October 3 2014.

One resident, who did not want to be named, told the News: “Most people knew Mr Griffin and it’s tragic what happened but we just want to get on with our lives.”
