TWO shops in Horncastle have scored top marks after refusing to sell alcohol and tobacco to underage customers.

Houlden’s newsagents in the High Street and the One Stop convenience store in the Bull Ring were visited by Lincolnshire Trading Standards officers and police on Friday. With them were 15 and 16-year-old volunteers who were refused sales.

after ID was requested by the shop staff and not presented.

It formed part of a test purchase operation by Lincolnshire Police and Lincolnshire Trading Standards targeting underage sales of alcohol and tobacco.
