Horncastle man gets suspended prison sentence
Matthew Freeman who appeared before Skegness Magistrates,
A Horncastle man has been handed a suspended prison sentence after breaching a community service order.
Matthew Lloyd James Freeman, aged 30, of North Street, appeared before Skegness Magistrates.
The court heard Freeman had ‘wilfully and persistently’ failed to comply with the order which was imposed last October.
The order relates to offences Freeman committed at the Co-op store in Coning Street, Horncastle - and the assault of a police officer.
Magistrates imposed a 28 day sentence which was suspended for 12 months.
They also gave Freeman a supervision order covering the next 12 months.
It states he must not enter the Co-op Store in Horncastle during that time.
The initial community order was put in place after Freeman stole various items of food from the Co-op, including crisps and a boost bar.
None of the thefts amounted to more than £9.
The thefts took place between May and September last year.
Freeman was also convicted at an earlier court hearing of assaulting PC William Forsyth in Horncastle last April.
The complaint that he had failed to comply with the order was brought by probation officers in Boston.
